RIP Andy Whitfield (17 July 1974 – 11 September 2011)

andy was spartacus in the starz tv show, spartacus: blood and sand. he also had the lead role in gabriel, an australian supernatural movie.

 

facts:
born in amlwch, wales
studied engineering at the university of sheffield
moved to australia in 1999
attended screenwise film & tv school for actors in sydney, australia

  

andy was diagnosed with non-hodgkin lymphoma in march 2010. his wife, vashti, issued this statement yesterday: "on a beautiful sunny sydney spring morning, surrounded by his family, in the arms of his loving wife, our beautiful young warrior andy whitfield lost his 18 month battle with lymphoma cancer. he passed peacefully surrounded by love. thank you to all his fans whose love and support have help carry him to this point. he will be remembered as the inspiring, courageous and gentle man, father and husband he was."
